What to write about
Four kinds of message get a useful outcome. Saying which one you are sending, and putting the detail in the first message, saves a round trip.

Before you write
Two pages answer most of what arrives in the mailbox, and they answer it faster than a reply would.
- Every guide carries a Key measurements block. Each figure in it shows its scope, its status as an official rule, a recommendation or a calculation, and a link to the primary official source. The answer to “where does this number come from” is usually already on the page.
- Methodology explains how a figure is verified, what those three status labels mean, and why two sources can give different numbers for the same line.
- Corrections policy explains how to report an error, what to include, and what happens to a page once the error is confirmed.
What cannot be answered
Playfield Atlas gives no professional, legal, engineering or construction advice. Questions that come down to whether a specific project will work cannot be answered here.
That rules out a familiar set of questions: whether a court will fit a particular plot, what base or surface to lay, what a slope or a drainage detail should be, whether a layout satisfies a local building code, and what any of it should cost. Those decisions depend on the site, the ground and the rules that apply where you are.
What can be done is narrower and more useful: point you to the figure, the scope it applies to, and the official rule it comes from, so that you can take an accurate number to the people who make those decisions. For anything binding, the governing body of your competition and a qualified professional are the right sources, not a reference site.
What to expect
This is a small publication. Messages are read, but a reply is not guaranteed and no response time is promised. Corrections are often made before they are answered, so a change on the page and a new verification date may arrive before an email does.
The address is used to receive mail, not to send it. There is no newsletter and no mailing list, and no advertising runs on this site today, so nothing follows from writing in beyond the answer to your question.
Requests for a sport that is not published yet are worth sending. Fourteen sports are online today. Knowing which one people want next changes the order the next ones are drawn and written in.
