Playfield Atlas publishes technical reference pages about the dimensions and markings of playing surfaces. These terms set out what that reference is, what it is not, and what you may do with it. They are short on purpose, because the site does one thing: it publishes.
Using this site
Reading a page here means accepting the terms on this page. If you do not accept them, the sensible course is not to use the site. Nothing is sold here, no service is offered, no booking is taken and no account exists, so there is no contract beyond this one.
What the content is
Each guide compiles figures from the published rules of the body that governs the sport, states the scope each figure applies to, marks whether it is an official rule, a recommendation or a calculation, and links to the source it came from. The diagrams are drawn in-house from those published rules. Federation artwork is never copied. The methodology page describes how a figure gets onto the site.
What the content is not
It is not professional advice. Nothing here is engineering, construction, surveying, legal, safety or regulatory advice, and nothing here should be treated as an instruction to build. It is also not a rulebook. A guide is a reading of the rules as they stood on the verification date shown with the figures, written for people who need the numbers in one place.
The current rulebook of the governing body always prevails over anything published here.
Accuracy, and what to check before you mark a surface
Every figure published here is sourced, dated and checked before it goes live. That is the standard the site holds itself to, and reported errors are corrected and dated in public. It is still not a guarantee. Rules are revised, editions are superseded, a source can be misread, and a figure can be mistyped.
So before anyone builds, marks out or resurfaces a real playing area, three checks belong to them and not to this site: the current rule of the governing body for the level of play concerned, the requirements of the competition or league the surface will be used for, and local building, planning, drainage and safety requirements, which vary by country and by municipality and are outside the scope of this site entirely. Errors found on a page can be reported through the corrections page.
Who owns what
Two different things sit on every guide page: material written and drawn here, and rules written by somebody else.

Short quotations with a link and a credit are welcome. Republishing a guide in full, mirroring the diagrams, or feeding pages into a derivative reference is not. Permission requests, including requests to use a diagram in a document or a presentation, go through the contact page and are usually answered.
Independence
Playfield Atlas is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting for any federation, league, governing body, manufacturer or contractor. Their names appear here because their rules are the source of the figures, and naming a source is how a reference works. A measurement page is not a claim of association.
Links to other sites
Guides link out to official rule documents so that a figure can be checked at its source. Those sites are run by other people. Their content, their availability and their terms are theirs, not this site’s, and a link is not an endorsement of anything else they publish. Official documents also move: if a source link here has gone dead, reporting it is genuinely useful.
Limits of liability
The site is published as it stands, without any guarantee that it is complete, current or free of error, and without any promise that it will stay available. To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for loss or damage that follows from using it or relying on it. In plain terms: if a court, a league or an inspector disagrees with a figure you took from this site, the current official rule decides the matter, and the cost of the work belongs to whoever ordered it.
Changes to these terms
These terms can change as the site changes. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the last-updated date at the top says when it was last reviewed. Questions about anything here can be sent to contact at playfieldatlas dot com.
